… Welcome to …
Creating and Using Videos For Your Business Part 1
For my Video Series for Barry’s Challenge I decided to do a Four Part Mini Video Series on Creating and Using Videos, the reason being; I have been asked on numerous occasions what tools and software I use when I make my own Videos.
So over the next few weeks I am going to be sharing with you some of the tools that I use when I’m actually creating and Using videos and then in the follow up videos over the next few weeks I’ll show you how to actually create these videos.
I’m also going to show you how to embed your videos for your customers if you decide to create videos for your own products.
In this First Video I give an introduction to the Tools and Software that I regularly use and will be using in the later videos to actually create the videos.
So Let’s get started with Part 1 of ....
Creating and Using Videos For Your Business
In Part 2 “Lets Get Started” we’ll jump right in and take a look at “Windows Live Movie Maker” and I’ll be showing you a free method of creating some very powerful Videos.
So I look forward to you joining me during this Mini Video Series and please don’t forget to pop over to the Video Blog Challenge Page and take a look at the amazing and educational videos that other people have entered in the Challenge. I am sure they will really appreciate it.
As you know I love hearing from you and reading your comments so please share your thoughts and let me and my readers know about the tools and software you use to create your videos. Better still let us all know that you have joined in with the Challenge!
Please Share the Love and use the tools below and share this post with your friends and followers I would be very grateful. There could be another video making star out there just waiting to join Barry’s Challenge!
So Until Next Week … Remember; “Lights, Camera, Action”

If you want to stay "Tuned In", please pop your details in the boxes and I will email you whenever I update my blog.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for taking part, and linking to, the video blog challenge as always mate it’s very much appreciated
I’ll add your details to the video blog challenge page on my blog shortly Ian.
I think you’ve covered a really good topic here mate and the fact that you’re showing everyone some free resources means that more and more people will be able to get started, which of course is the whole point of the challenge: To encourage and assist people with creating their first videos, whilst at the same time allowing people like us to demonstrate their skills, and I think you’ve done an excellent job of doing that
Videos are huge online and if we’re not creating them then we’re slowly doing ourselves harm, as it’s a case of keep up or get left behind.
With this series you’re creating I know that people will be able to overcome their fears and be able to jump on into video creation.
If any one wants to join the challenge they’re very welcome.
So why not follow Ian’s series and get creating them and add them to the challenge as soon as you’re ready, you have until the 29th on March.
Great video Ian, thanks again for taking part and mentioning the video challenge, great stuff.
Respect and Regards,
Barry

Hi Barry
I’m glad to finally have the first video up and posted mate, couldn’t really record last week you would not have thought it was me. The cold and Chest infection really knocked me for six!
No worries on the linking up Barry we need to get as many people as we can over there and joining up; right?
I had a couple of ideas on topic choice, but eventually decided to go with Video Creation; thought it fitted really well with the theme
Hopefully people will be able to take a few tips and ideas from the mini-series and incorporate them into their own video creation techniques. And for those who haven’t started doing videos yet, then they will discover you dont have to break the bank to start
Barry you and I both know that Video Marketing is the future what’s that saying; “A picture can say a 1000 words, well a video tells the whole story”
We also know that YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine on the Web. Why? Because people like to find video answers to their questions instead of searching through realms of text.
I really hope that this Mini Course can help as many people as possible take up creating videos for their business and allay any fears they may have and as you say Barry; just jump right in and have a go!
Glad you liked the video Barry and as always thanks for your support and input it’s really appreciated
Glad to hear the ankle is not broke mate, hope you get better real quick.
Take care, catch up soon

Hi Ian,
Great introduction to some very useful sites Ian.
I’m really looking forward to next weeks getting started with Windows live movie maker. I do have that and have been playing around, but if you already know how to use it properly – I’ll get my popcorn ready and be glued to the screen watching – pencil and paper too of course
Hope you’re keeping well Ian, terrific video.
See you next week

Hi Julie
Hope all is well with you and I am really looking forward to seeing your videos in this latest challenge.
I’m glad you liked the video Julie and hopefully people will see that you don’t have to break the bank to start making videos.
The next video kicks off with Windows Live Movie Maker, but there are some other little surprises included as well!
Julie do you have Windows Movie Maker or Windows Live Movie Maker? The only reason I ask is that Windows Live Movie Maker is the more updated version. It has more features and it’s a little easier to use.
That’s not a bad idea; maybe I should enjoy some popcorn and a beer while I am watching the other video entries!
As always Julie it’s great to see you here and thanks for your input and I will be seeing you real soon on your blog…

Great presentation Style!
It’s surprising just how many video recording options are available. I’ve not used windows live yet…I’m hooked on Camtasia and will probably always use that now
I loved your analogy to the Honda Accord…I was thinking mini while you said it
I look forward to the follow up videos, I have a feeling that it will change some of the things I do in my own videos

How’s things mate? Thanks for popping over and sharing your thoughts I really appreciate it.
Ha-Ha; You know when I was recording the video “Honda Accord” was the first name that came into my mind, but yes I think your suggestion fits better!
You are right Steve there are so many ways you can create videos nowadays so there is no excuse and people don’t have to break the bank to get started and hopefully this series will show people just that and encourage them to get started creating their own videos.
Like you I love Camtasia; I got my copy last year and I am still discovering new things I can do with it, maybe you can show me a thing or two and throw in some tips!
I’m glad you liked the video Steve, and I’ll be dropping in on you real soon over at your blog…

Wow Ian, what a series this will be and boy did you cover a lot in this video alone. I’m very impressed with how detailed you were in pointing out the difference with them all.
I have no doubt that your follow ups will be just as good and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what you’ll be sharing.
I got a new computer toward the end of last year and it has Windows 7. I didn’t even check to see if Windows Movie Maker was on there but I knew that a lot of the new versions stop including it on the PC upon purchase. No biggie though, I can always just download it when I need to. Thanks for that tip though.
Will look forward to your next video and so glad you joined the challenge and are feeling much better. I know how men hate to be sick but heck, so do I!
Have a great week!

Thanks for your continued support and kind words Adrienne it means a lot to me and I am really pleased you liked the video.
I would definitely download “Windows Live Movie Maker” for your new computer as I was saying to Julie above it is the updated version and has a lot more features and it’s a little easier to use.
I’m feeling a lot better now as well Adrienne thank you, and yes I know us Men are babies when it comes to colds; as my wife keeps telling me!

How’s thing with you my friend?
I’m glad you liked the video PJ and I am also pleased to hear that you are finally going to get stuck into creating some videos of your own!
You are right when you say “It’s pretty much a must do for any online business nowadays” videos are huge online right now and unless you’re creating them and using them in your online promotion or business chances are you’re going to get left behind!
I am hoping with this short Mini Series people will see that it’s not as hard as they may think and plus you don’t have to break the bank to get involved.
So hopefully you will find the series of some benefit PJ and it will spur you into creating those videos
Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts my friend, it is always appreciated and I’ll be seeing you real soon over at your blog…

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

I am pleased that you liked the video and hopefully you found it of benefit in some way. Hopefully this short video series will show people that there are quite a few resources that you can use to create videos that are not going to break the bank.
Camtasia is a great piece of software and I use it myself but for some who might be just starting out on their creative journey with videos it may prove a little expensive to start off with.
Viddler and Vimeo are great video sharing sites both are similar to YouTube but each brings their own additional benefits to video sharing and I can highly recommend you take a look at them.
Thanks for your input Linda and I’ll see you real soon…

Hi Ian,
Hope you are well and WOW, you covered so much content, I think your video series is going to influence a lot of people to change their mind about being scared to appear on videos to literally having a go and have lots of fun in the process. I previously used Windows Movie Maker, but ever since changing to camtasia and overcoming the intial learning curve, there is no going back especially when camtasia is so convenient and above all, touch wood, it doesn’t crash when it is rendering the videos whilst having other programs running.
Anyway Ian, I look forward to your next video in the series, keep up the great work and speak soon (we’ve still yet to sort that skype convo out – hehe)

Glad you liked the video Nigel; the whole point to this short series of videos is to inform people that they can get involved and start creating videos without the need to go and spend huge sums of money on tools and software. And like you said have fun in the process as well
Like you Nigel I have Camtasia and I have been using it for just under a year now and it’s without doubt a great piece of software; I’m still in the learning curve with it I must admit.
But I really wanted to show the free tools and software that is available to people who may be starting out and are being put off by thinking they have to spend money to start creating videos.
Thanks for popping over Nigel as always it’s great to see you here and thanks for sharing your thoughts. And yes we must arrange that Skype conversation; we have been promising it for a while now!

I loved how you went through the free methods Ian because sometimes Camtasia is not an option for many people so its fab your giving them an alternative.
Where are you hiding matey, I’ve missed ya and I hope all is well with you.

Hi Dawn
Sorry I have not been around this past week, I have been laid up in bed with a really nasty viral chest infection and the worst cold I’ve ever had. Thought I was over it and then it came back with a vengeance! Dr prescribed strict bed rest with a course of Anti-Biotics.
I’m up and about again now and cracking on with the work load, bit of catching up to do again (that’s all I seem to be doing so far this year!)
Anyway moving on… There are quite few free tools and software available Dawn for people to not have any excuse to get started creating their own videos. Some are put off by thinking they have to spend huge sums of money on software so hopefully these videos will shed a different light on things.
As you say Dawn Camtasia is not always an option for some people and that’s maybe what’s stopping them in their video creation journey.
I hope to have Part Two in the series done real soon and up on my blog.
Thanks for dropping in Dawn it’s always a pleasure to see you here, and I hope Sally is not working you too hard! ;
I’ll be seeing you really soon my friend over at your blog…

Hi Ian
As someone new to creating videos I found all that terrific information very useful. I discovered Windows Live Movie Maker a short while ago and although it took me a day to suss it all out, I am quite confident with it now.
I have had Jing downloaded for months but still not had a proper look at it yet – must do that. Thanks for the tips about SXC, Audacity, Viddler and Vimeo, I had not heard of them before but will be investigating them all.
Great informative video and you also have an excellent speaking voice.

I’m sure you will like “SXC” Bill they offer some amazing quality free images. In the next video I’ll be showing you “SXC” and “Opsound” for your Music which you can use with WLMM.
Viddler and Vimeo are great video sharing sites very similar to YouTube but each offer that little something different and brings additional benefits to video sharing; I do recommend you check them out.

I too use Camtasia which is superb video editing software; but I wanted this Mini-Series to be about Free Tools and Software that those new to video creation can get cracking creating them immediately without having to spend money to do it!
Windows Live Movie Maker is a remarkable piece of software, more so because it’s free and you can create some great videos with it.
I am pleased to hear that you are having fun creating the videos DeeAnn because that’s what it’s all about and the more you do the more confidence you get.

Hi Ian,
Nice to meet you, I came over from Adrienne’s blog
I’ve just started producing some basic videos with some moderate success but it will be interesting to find out some different tools to use – and preferably that are free! I’ve used Windows Live Movie Maker and that was fine but I could really use some advice from someone unbiased who’s used them all so I look forward to rewatching this video again (builders noise in the background) and the next ones in the series, thanks in advance!

My apologies for the delay in my reply, firstly your comments went straight into my spam box which has now been rectified for future! But since May of this year I have not been so active on my blog for numerous reasons – mainly due to breaking my hand quite badly and it has taken quite a while to get it back to normal and then family matters.
So suffice to say I decided to take the rest of the year off and get away from it all!
BUT I WILL BE BACK IN THE NEW YEAR!
I am really pleased that you have started to produce to videos; there are some great free tools that you can use along with some excellent sites that offer free content and software. (I cover some of them in this series)
Apologies for Part 4 being missing but I was doing it when I broke my hand! But it will be one of the first posts on my blog in the New Year!
